Romados Montreal
Nov 09 2011Best. Chicken. Ever. Get ready to go wild for this one. Crispy on the outside, firm but tender on the inside, the chicken at Romados lives up to all that street talk. Yep, it is arguably serving the best chicken in the city. None of that dry, bland tasting meat that you choke down with big gulps of water. Nope, not here. With some seasoning, a bit of spice brushed onto the meat and a little extra gravy for the fries, the taste is incomparable to anything else. Mmm, mmm, mmm. We got a half chicken and two thighs to go. Smothered with fries and coming with a bite of salad, the three of us wolfed down our meals like there was no tomorrow. Yes, we were hungry. But the main accelerator for the speed at which we ate was the tastiness of the food itself.

The Magic Spoon Bakery Vermont
Jun 09 2011Native to Vermont, a friend of mine returns to her hometown relatively often and never fails to bring back a little something for me from her CarMamma’s shop. When she first mentioned her name, I didn’t understand what she meant. After doing a little research, I found out CarMamma is the affectionate nickname for Carmela Ram, the owner and principal baker of The Magic Spoon Bakery. This being my second time tasting her pastries – I have to say they have been consistently delicious! Yesterday I snacked on the Linzer Sweetheart cookie whose texture was in perfectly in between firm and crumbly and this morning, I had the hearty Ali Baba granola bar for breakfast. The warm small town aesthetic comes through in the obvious care that has gone into the individually hand wrapped products, the charming cartoon fairy character and the rustic taste of the products.
