Safran et Cannelle Montreal
Aug 20 2012Whilst scouring the Old Port for lunch places to eat at during work breaks, I came across Safran et Cannelle. Peering in from the outside, it looked more like a sit down place, so I’d been hesitant to try it for fear of not being able to make it back to work on time. One day though, the tagines sitting on the table outside just seemed too alluring so we decided to check it out. And you know what? Food service made it just so I had a couple minutes to power walk back and make it in time.

Dolcetto & Co. Montreal
Aug 19 2012Dolcetto & Co. can be described as a hip Italian wine bar with a tapas mentality. Located on St. Paul street in the Old Port, the place caters to a well to do mid to late twenties crowd looking for a casual chic evening out. Going for a ocean/beachy vibe as indicated in the rope and anchor ampersand part of their logo, the blue and white striped seats, the captain’s hats hanging off the hooks across the room and the bottle chandeliers, the whole place gives off a relaxed but sophisticated air.

Jardin Nelson Montreal
Aug 04 2012Jardin Nelson is famous for their impressive terrasse. Spacious, luxurious and beautiful, hot days and summertime is when this place really shines. With two levels of outdoor seating and some, they aren’t messing around. They know that their space is pretty much unbeatable in Montreal – can you think of anywhere else with a spot remotely similar? Watching the huge parasols unfold for the evening is a sight to behold. Check out the video on their website for an idea of what the place looks like at night. The soft lighting, the natural feel (birds chirping, vines along the walls, trees within the resto) – the ambiance almost seems surreal. For those of you looking for a good date spot in the Old Port, this is it!

Atomic Laval

Cold Pikilia: (Left to Right) Tsatziki, Red Pepper and Feta and Skordalia (mashed potatoes with garlic)
A friend of mine recently came back into town suggested we go to Atomic for some real Greek food. It’s been a while for me – the last time was at Jardin de Panos a couple of years ago. I get a little Kojax here and there but to compare it with these restaurants would be unfair on both ends. Of course, I accepted. Who doesn’t like trying new restaurants and new foods?
