Brasero Hardi Montreal

We first discovered Brasero Hardi during a winter Dishcrawl and the six hour marinated spare ribs on top of pork lardon mashed potatoes and house smoked salmon on top of horseradish panna cotta was definitely a highlight of the evening. “The Good, The Bad and the Ugly” cocktail made with chartreuse, Midori melon liquer, cardamom, green tea syrup and egg whites, all topped with pinch of seaweed also got our attention.
We made it a point to check out more the Brasero Hardi menu about two weeks later. Brasero Hardi is owned and operated by the same folks from Le Confessional bar on McGill and one of the main draws is really the big outdoor terrace. It being December, we didn’t get to try the terrace on either of our visits but we did hear about a number of outdoor winter events being held at Brasero Hardi.
On our second trip we had roasted wild salmon and a pork based pastry/tart dish. Unfortunately we were a bit let down by these two dishes and found them a bit safe and lacking bold flavour. The cocktials we ordered this time around were also not up to bar with the good, bad and the ugly we had two weeks ago.
Brasero Hardi has potential, we’ll have to come back a third time to have a final verdict – they also serve brunch on the weekends.
